Job PurposeThe Custodial Crew Leader supports the Custodial Supervisor by helping plan, schedule, and oversee daily custodial operations while actively performing custodial work. This role leads by example, ensures facilities meet cleanliness and safety standards, coordinates staff activities, and provides daily guidance to custodial team members. The Crew Leader assumes supervisory responsibilities in the Supervisor's absence.SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Wednesday-Saturday 4:30pm-3:00amSunday-Wednesday 6:00am-4:30pmWednesday-Saturday 6:00am-4:30pm Duties & ResponsibilitiesCustodial Duties• Perform all Custodian I and II duties at a high standard, modeling professionalism and best practices.• Clean, sanitize, and maintain restrooms, public areas, offices, elevators, pet relief areas, and exterior spaces.• Maintain all flooring surfaces using manual and automated equipment (vacuuming, mopping, shampooing, stripping, waxing, polishing).• Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and liquid waste; clean and sanitize receptacles.• Refill and maintain supplies including paper products, soap, and hand sanitizers.• Clean interior/exterior windows, fixtures, vents, displays, phones, and high - touch surfaces.• Safely operate custodial equipment such as buffers, sweepers, carpet shampooers, and snow - removal equipment.• Perform seasonal duties including snow and ice removal using proper tools and materials.• Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA Hazard Communication standards and proper chemical handling.• Complete daily logs, inspections, and electronic documentation accurately and on time.• Assist passengers with basic directions or inquiries in a courteous, professional manner. Leadership & Team Support• Assist the Custodial Supervisor with daily operations, work assignments, and staff oversight.• Provide day - to - day guidance to Custodian I and II staff regarding attendance, breaks, work areas, and conduct.• Support onboarding by welcoming new employees and training them on routines, safety, and equipment.• Coordinate and document required training, including safety and compliance programs.• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and leadership regarding work status and needs.• Participate in interviews and provide input for performance evaluations.• Promote a positive, respectful, team - oriented work environment.• Review schedules and timecards; assume supervisory responsibilities when the Supervisor is absent.• Regularly access, read, and respond to email to stay informed of departmental and HR communications.• Remain available for emergency response and adverse weather events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.• Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications• High school diploma or equivalent.• Minimum of three years of custodial experience, including leadership or crew coordination.• Strong knowledge of custodial methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices.• Ability to lead, train, and support a diverse custodial team.• Strong communication and customer service skills.• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain high cleanliness standards.• Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.• Ability to use HR systems for timekeeping, leave requests, benefits, and employee self - service.• Ability to assist team members with basic HR system and timekeeping processes.• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships. Working Conditions• Full - time, on - site position requiring regular and punctual attendance.• Shifts may include weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and 8 - , 10 - , or 12 - hour schedules.• Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions throughout airport facilities.• Exposure to heights, electrical hazards, extreme temperatures, and occasional bloodborne pathogens.• May require extended or additional shifts during special projects, emergencies, or weather events.• May require work beyond 40 hours to meet operational needs. Physical Requirements• Classified as "medium" to "heavy work" under the ADA.• Ability to speak clearly and hear normal conversation, alarms, radios, and warning signals.• Sufficient vision to read labels, mix chemicals, identify cleanliness issues, and operate equipment.• Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, squat, and reach at shoulder level.• Ability to stand and walk for 8-12 hours.• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously and up to 75 pounds for short periods.• Ability to enter and exit vehicles used for snow and weather - related operations.• Ability to access all areas of the airport to complete job functions.
