DescriptionRESPIRATORY THERAPISTReports to Director of WellnessRESPONSIBILITIES:The Respiratory Therapist (RT) will work in coordination with clinic staff to help patients improve pulmonary function, alleviate pain and support life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy. The RT will meet patient's goals and needs and provide quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests, assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, and determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with medical providers.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Associate's degree with major in Respiratory TherapyValid state Respiratory Therapist license (must meet educational requirement for state licensure)Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Current BLS for Healthcare ProviderRESPONSIBILITIES:Administers respiratory therapy treatments by assisting with breathing exercises and monitoring physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress and recommending adjustments and modifications.Completes discharge planning by consulting with healthcare providers, social workers and other members of the care team and contributing to patient care conferences.Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS:Physiological knowledgeHealth promotion and maintenanceVerbal communication skillsMedical teamworkCreating a safe, effective environmentStatement of Non-Inclusivity: This job description is not to be construed as a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
