Job Description:
The Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring product safety, quality, and consistency. This position supports food manufacturing operations by testing ingredients and finished goods, verifying formulations, and identifying potential issues early-before products reach customers. You'll work hands-on in a wet lab environment, using laboratory equipment, computer systems, and Microsoft Excel. Key Responsibilities * Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing on ingredients and finished goods to ensure they meet specifications * Accurately follow testing procedures and document results to support food safety and product quality * Verify product formulations to ensure consistency and identify discrepancies early in production * Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in a wet lab environment while following GMP standards * Record, analyze, and report lab data using Microsoft Excel and computer-based systems * Monitor production samples and communicate quality or safety concerns promptly * Support troubleshooting of production issues through timely, accurate lab results * Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab by following safety, housekeeping, and GMP requirements * Collaborate with production and quality teams, demonstrating respect, trust, and teamwork * Participate in continuous improvement of lab processes and documentation * Operate a forklift-or learn to operate one-to move materials or samples as needed Required Skills & Experience * Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in a relevant setting * Hands-on experience working in a wet lab environment * Familiarity with laboratory equipment and proper equipment care * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry and basic analysis * Experience with computer-based data entry and recordkeeping * Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to identify potential quality or production issues early * Willingness to work second shift, 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday Preferred Qualifications * Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science field (preferred, not required) * Experience in food quality testing or food manufacturing (distillery, or similar) * Forklift experience (training available if needed) * Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally * Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality standards * Commitment to continuous learning and improvement Work Environment & Schedule * Wet lab environment in a climate-controlled facility * Second shift: 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday * No weekend work required (optional overtime available) * Work supports food manufacturing operations following GMP standards * Use of standard lab equipment, computer systems, and Microsoft Excel * Forklift use may be required * Competitive benefits offered upon transition to direct employment Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceburg, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $26.44/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
