PRS Facility Location Decoursey, KY - Trackworks - 016 Job Purpose The Engineering Manager for Track design is responsible for leading and managing the full lifecycle of engineered-to-order trackwork products. This position combines deep technical expertise in rail and trackwork engineering with product management, people leadership, and client engagement. This individual serves as both technical authority and product owner, translating client, operational, and regulatory requirements into safe, compliant, and cost-effective custom designs while ensuring commercial, schedule, and operational objectives are achieved. Education / Training • Bachelor's degree in Design or Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering or other related engineering discipline • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain, preferred Job Title Rail Services Manager - Trackwork City Taylor Mill Key Job Elements • Own the lifecycle of engineered-to-order trackwork products from proposal through design, delivery, and post-delivery support• Define and control technical requirements, scope, and configurations for custom trackwork solutions at the request of the customer• Ensure project-specific designs align with company standards while meeting unique client and site constraints• Works with supply chain, manufacturing and quality department personnel to resolve issues and keep product delivery on time.• Serve as technical authority and SME for trackwork and special trackwork engineering• Act as primary technical interface with external customers, serving as a liaison within sales, estimating and design engineering departments of Progress Rail.• Ensure compliance with applicable standards including AREMA, FRA, APTA, EN, and owner-specific criteria• Provide guidance and resolution for complex, high-risk, or non-standard engineering challenges• Lead, mentor, and develop junior design engineering staff in trackwork design• Manage new product development cycle Qualifications and Experience • 10+ years of rail or rail transit engineering experience with significant trackwork focus• Previous experience in a lead engineer, manager or technical authority role• Experience leading proposal efforts for complex infrastructure projects• Proven client relationship management capabilities• Engineering judgment and technical depth• People leadership and decision-making authority• Clear, confident communication• Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities • Strength - Position involves work in a standard office environment. Constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Rare lifting;• Motion - Position requires standard occasional repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with supervisory management and office communications;• Vision/Hearing Requirements - Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;• Work Environment- Position will typically be located in an office environment;• Emotional Demands - High-level management position requiring constant vigilance overseeing a high volume of mission critical actions with attention to detail.
