DescriptionThe Direct Support Professional Lead (DSP-Lead) supports individuals with developmental disabilities or related conditions by promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion. In addition to providing direct care support (i.e. assisting with hygiene needs, medication administration, meal prep, attending doctor appointments, etc.) the DSP-Lead serves as a house or apartment lead responsible for household operations, such as managing supplies, overseeing finances, and ensuring the home runs smoothly. The ideal candidate is empathetic, supportive, and organized, with strong leadership skills and a commitment to person-centered care.Assist people supported in becoming valued members of their community by helping them develop friendships and maintain family relationships. Demonstrate respect for each person's right to dignity, privacy, individualized attention, and choice. Be knowledgeable of the vulnerabilities and needs of people supported, demonstrating the ability to implement all plans of protection relating to those vulnerabilities. Be knowledgeable of the capacities, gifts and interests of people supported, demonstrating the ability to advocate on behalf of the person. Teach people supported living skills, while promoting opportunities to increase independence, choice and self-motivation. Demonstrate consistent use of behavior intervention and management techniques in a manner which is respectful and as least intrusive as possible. Implement programs and activities as specified and assigned. Monitor and assure that the clothing and personal items of all people supported are appropriate to need and choice. Is knowledgeable of the histories, formal assessments, Community Support Service Plans (CSSP) and Individual Assessment/Risk Management Plans (IA/RMP) of the people supported. Order medications and medical supplies Balance People Supported Check Books. Oversee house petty cash/EOM balance. Perform house grocery shoppingRequirementsQualifications & Skills:Experience working collaboratively in a team setting.Ability to actively listen with sensitivity to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.Basic computer and math skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Honesty, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.Preferred:Previous experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a similar setting.Training Requirements:Positive Behavior Support (PBS)First Aid CertificationTrained Medication Administration (TMA)Completion of required annual training and refresher coursesWork Environment:Work is performed in a temperature-controlled residential environment.
