As an Environmental Engineering Specialist at General Motors, you will lead initiatives for air, waste, and water compliance programs, while creating strategies to minimize environmental risks. In this dynamic manufacturing environment, you will collaborate with diverse teams to develop and implement top-tier sustainable solutions that align with GM's Vision of Zero, Zero, Zero. What You'll Do Drive consistent environmental stewardship programs. Engage with local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Develop innovative solutions for complex environmental issues. Leverage technology to maintain effective environmental management systems. Monitor environmental parameters and suggest continuous improvement recommendations. Enhance system designs to protect the environment using cutting-edge technologies. Gain insight into manufacturing systems, including production processes, wastewater management, stormwater control, air emissions, chemical usage, and waste/recycling programs to facilitate informed decision-making and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with business partners and regulatory bodies to prepare necessary documentation and complete compliance testing. Act as a resource for all Environmental Operations within the facility. Your Skills & Abilities Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in environmental engineering or related fields, including familiarity with regulations. Knowledge in all environmental media, such as Air Permitting, Storm Water Management, and Hazardous Waste Regulations. Proven project execution skills. Strong self-motivation and ability to excel in an independent work environment. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge Master’s degree in environmental engineering. Basic understanding of automotive manufacturing processes. Experience in environmental engineering, especially within manufacturing settings. This role requires working onsite at a specific location.
