Serving with Compassion, Creativity, and Consistency. $20-22 an hourSchedule - Part Time, usually 1-6pm, occasional weekend flexibility based on family need Position Summary: The Family Life Specialist will provide support and resources for the growth and development of each child through instructing, counseling, and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school routines, and work habits. The Family Life Specialist should foster the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each child. The FLS will also provide safe and responsible transportation for youth and family members (VIPs) and other Children's Home affiliates as required by program expectations while maintaining safe and appropriate behaviors for all passengers. The Family Life Specialist will prepare youngsters for successful living within societal norms toward improving family relationships, reunification with family, or independent living. Responsibilities:Provide for the safety and well-being of children in care through knowledge and supervision of their whereabouts and the judicious use of discipline and therapeutic crisis intervention.Develop and maintain therapeutic relationship with the children and their families that are responsive to their needs and that are in accordance with the established treatment plan/UCR.Promote the growth of parent-child relationships as indicated by that plan, as well as the agency's philosophy of family-centered practice.Assure the health and safety of children in care by the timely identification and effective communication of all behavioral, emotional or medical needs.Confer regularly with the Director, Case Planners, foster parents, and primary workers as needed on each child's and family's individual and group progress.Attend all required trainings, staff meetings and supervision.RequirementsEducation:High School Diploma/GED requiredAssociates or Bachelor's Degree preferredExperience:3 years of experience with a high school diploma required1 year of experience plus a college degree preferredDriver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employmentBenefits Benefits available to all staff:Student Loan and Tuition ReimbursementEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee Discounts at the Southern Tier Community CenterOpportunities for Professional DevelopmentFull Time Benefits:Agency-Paid CEUs, License Prep Course, and License Exam403(b) with 6% employer contributionPTO plus 9 paid holidaysChildcare ReimbursementHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance (with HSA/FSA Accounts)Life InsuranceEEO Statement: The Children's Home is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
