Senior Manager, R&D Outsourcing

Joining CSL now means being part ofan agile team committed to developing therapies that make a meaningful differenceworldwide.As the Senior Manager, R&D Outsourcing is responsible for managing the fullcontracting lifecycle for strategic outsourced R&D services and projects acrossassigned therapeutic and functional areas. This includes drafting, reviewing, andnegotiating scopes of work, budgets, and contracts with external service providers tosupport CSL’s global clinical and portfolio development needs. This individualcontributor role partners closely with Business Strategy Leads, Project Owners, Legal,Finance, and Procurement to ensure timely contract execution, cost control, andcompliance with CSL’s policies and standards.Key ResponsibilitiesOutsourcing ExecutionManage vendor identification, RFI/RFP processes, proposal reviews, and budget andcontract negotiations for strategic outsourced R&D services (e.g., MSAs, Work Orders,Change Orders, rate cards).Draft, review, and finalize contracts to ensure timely execution and compliance withCSL policies.Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders to align contract deliverables withoperational needs.Contract Oversight and ComplianceTrack contractual obligations and ensure vendors meet agreed terms, budgets, andtimelines.Support resolution of contract or performance issues in collaboration with Legal,Finance, and project stakeholders.Maintain organized and up-to-date contract documentation in line with internalrequirements and industry regulations.Financial and Operational SupportReview vendor proposals and budgets for accuracy and alignment with scope.Monitor ongoing vendor spending versus approved budgets; highlight variances asneeded.Support financial forecasting and reporting by providing timely contract and spend data.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Business Strategy Leads, Project Owners, Legal, Finance, andProcurement to ensure smooth contract operations.Communicate contract requirements and processes clearly to internal stakeholders.Serve as a resource for questions on contract terms, templates, and procedures.Process Improvement and ReportingIdentify opportunities to improve contracting efficiency, consistency, and compliance.Contribute to tracking and reporting of outsourcing metrics and performance indicators.Participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance vendor management practices.Skills and Experience RequiredMinimum 7 years of experience managing end-to-end contracting with R&D serviceproviders (e.g., CROs).Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate budgets and contracts.Working knowledge of clinical trial operations and vendor cost structures.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functional teams.Preferred:Experience supporting outsourcing in global or matrixed R&D organizations.Familiarity with contract lifecycle management software or financial systems.Understanding of basic financial principles (e.g., budget tracking, forecasting).Qualifications and Education RequiredBachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Life Sciences, or a related fieldAbout CSL BehringCSL Behring is a global biotherapeutics leader driven by our promise to save lives.
