Machinist

Position SummaryThe Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools to produce precision metal components that meet exact specifications. This role supports production efficiency, quality standards, and safe operations within a metal manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machines to include mills, lathes and other machines as required. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructionsSelect appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operationsMeasure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)Make machine adjustments to maintain part quality and tolerancesPerform routine maintenance on machines and equipmentTroubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvementsMaintain accurate production and quality recordsFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work areaCollaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to meet production goalsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent training)Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materialsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsExperience with CNC programming/editing (preferred but not required)Proficient in use of precision measuring instrumentsBasic math skills, including geometry and trigonometrySkills & CompetenciesAttention to detail and commitment to qualityStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilityMechanical aptitudeAbility to work independently and as part of a teamTime management and ability to meet production deadlines
