Job Title: Greenhouse Technician Location: Johnston, IA 50131 Duration: 12+ Months contract Schedule " Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM " Work 1-2 weekends or holidays every 3 months, with comp days Position Overview: The Controlled Environments Team seeks a motivated and responsible Greenhouse Technician to support research operations at our four-acre facility in Johnston, Iowa. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of agricultural innovation by supporting daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment. Key Responsibilities: " Diligently shoot bag in corn pollination rooms daily " Tassel bag and pollinate corn 1-2 times per week " Prep and sort plant groupings with a high level of attention to detail " Transfer large plants on carts to correct room locations and specific locations within a room " Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material " Assist with plant care tasks, such as cotton pruning " Drive the Tug to move plants throughout the facility Qualifications: " High school diploma/GED required " Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field preferred " Two or more years of relevant experience preferred " Valid Driver's License required " Good communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, positive attitude, attention to detail " Works well independently and with minimal supervision but also works well in groups " The ability to drive company vehicles, such as a tug " Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn internal research software " Capability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs " Comfort working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure " we have a very strong safety culture and implement safety in everything that we do.
