Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance using advanced product quality planning (APQP) tools to drive product and process quality improvements. This will involve working throughout the entire value stream (customer to supplier) as we develop new products and suppliers, as well as, maintaining existing. Utilize advanced product quality planning tools (part approval, process flow, cpk studies, pfmea, control plan, auditing) for product and supplier development. Collaborate with other internal and external (both customer and supply base) functions to pursue quality issue resolutions, driving corrective and preventive action as required. Develop and/or maintain data collection and analysis to provide input to corrective actions and continuous improvement activities. Provide quality training, coaching, and development to our workforce and supply chain. Work with product development teams to assure new parts meet specifications and suppliers understand and are capable of producing too. Provide expertise in utilizing the problem solving methodology for Corrective Action. Provide assistance in directing inspection programs utilizing sample plans. Conduct supplier assessments and control plan auditing. Provide support and assistance in developing and maintaining our Kimball Quality Management System. Perform internal Quality Management System auditing in support of our Kimball registration. Participate on Continuous Improvement Projects (Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC) Support the Mission and Guiding Principles of Kimball International. Support safety and environmental efforts to better serve our employees and community. Work/Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field, or equivalent education/experience ASQ Quality Certification(s) preferred Proven experience utilizing APQP tools
