ENGINEERING MANAGER- JOB DESCRIPTIONRESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Business Operations FUNCTION: Primary responsibility of leading the technical engineering team and driving revenue growth by developing customer relationships, understanding technical requirements, and offering engineering-based solutions. This role bridges the gap between engineering and sales functions, ensuring customer needs are met with accurate feasible and competitive solutions. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent supervisory and communication skills; ability to read and interpret blueprints/technical packages; knowledge of industrial and process manufacturing engineering; excellent leader with strong organizational and financial management skills; knowledge of workflow, process engineering, costing and estimating; the ability to organize time well and manage multiple time-sensitive, high volume responsibilities effectively and in a timely fashion. Strong computer skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, CAD and Epicor MRP Systems. Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to work non-traditional hours as needed or assigned to fulfill assigned duties. Willingness and ability to travel for work is essential. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree and five (5) years of manufacturing, management and/or engineering experience, a minimum of two (2) years of which involved administrative/supervisory responsibilities. DUTIESTECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL: Responsible for methods of manufacturing for all work within the Allied division, including new products and design prototypes. Responsible for project management including the development of customer costing proposals. Works with customer engineers and project managers to develop and design new products. Responsible for product development or scope of work development, and for the implementation of scope of work changes and process changes as dictated by customer requirements. Responsible for product engineering, including but not limited to drawing reviews, tolerance and manufacturing specifications, all engineering changes, modification and product deviation requests. Responsible for all costs relating to production, including but not limited to: bills of materials, labor, materials, equipment, tooling, operation routings, production pay rates, supplies, packaging and shipping. Responsible for the item master with the Epicor manufacturing system. This includes original entry and ongoing maintenance of the bill of materials and operation routing. Works closely with Prototype design to develop time standards for costing. Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products to prospective clients Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and partners. Conduct regular customer visits to understand requirements, challenges and future opportunities. ADMINISTRATIVE: Responsible for product specifications and technical data of all new and existing contracts. Participates in developing capital and operating budgets and adherence to such as to ensure fiscal stability of assigned area of responsibility, in conjunction with Director. Participates in the development of Outcomes and Performance Targets relative to assigned area(s) of responsibility and oversees implementation and tracking of relevant Performance Targets. Ensures that policy and procedure manual is developed and updated with regard to process and product development as it relates to the Epicor and ISO system. Ensures that all staff job descriptions are updated to reflect changes in departmental and/or agency-wide expectations and practices and that staff are notified and trained accordingly. SUPERVISORY: Responsible for providing administrative supervision to assigned staff, including but not limited to: Hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluation, in-service education and training, and ensuring that there are an adequate number of staff to fulfill assigned responsibilities. Conducts staff meetings as needed or assigned. Coordinates staff orientation with the Training Department and ensure new hires and regular staff receives ongoing trainings. Oversees all aspects of the engineering department including timely completion of new hire paperwork, disciplinary actions and other personnel related matters. OTHER DUTIES: All other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Operations.
