Employees must comply with traffic legislation, be conscious of road safety, demonstrate safe driving, and other good road safety habits while driving their personal vehicle for work purposes. Efficiently and accurately transport unprocessed/processed blood and blood products, campus mail, supplies and medical equipment.Practice safe driving skills during transport; adhere to all driving regulationsLoad and unload vehicles while practicing safe techniques with lifting, pushing and pullingDeliver items to specified points using most efficient routes.Keep log of items received and delivered; document daily activities as requiredNotify supervisor of any concerns, issues and/or delaysTrainingIWELCOME, ILEAD, Annual cGMP, Annual Safety, Annual Human Resources (Sexual Harassment, Workplace Bullying, Diversity/Unconscious Bias), Medical Ethics, Customer Service, Blood Establishment Computer Systems, and all required departmental and interdepartmental training.QualificationsEDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Current and valid driver's license and automobile insurance coverage in good standing.EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year route delivery experience preferred.SKILLS:Demonstrated AIDET skills daily with donors, guests, customers, employees, and vendorsLanguage skills must include reading, writing, and speaking English effectively and following oral and written instructions consistent with policies and procedures, SOPs, or other requirementsAbility to make sound decisions under pressureDemonstrate the ability to multi-tasksAbility to function as a key team member in a high-level production environment coupled with strong organizational skillsAbility to work independently and to meet deadlines and show initiative dailyDemonstrate ability to work without direct supervisionMust be able to make simple decisions based on well-defined choicesAbility to communicate effectively with the staff and the public to enhance Lifeline's relationship with the communityContributes to a positive work environment and demonstrates an overall team effortBasic computer skills in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and OutlookWorking ConditionsFunctions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.Physical RequirementsEmployee is required to stand, walk, sit, and have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive vehicle for extended periods of time
