Job Description:
The Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) receives contaminated critical, non-critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME) in the decontamination area. They are responsible for disassembling RME and determining the correct cleaning method. They must also inspect, assemble and determine the correct method and packaging for sterilization. They are also responsible for documenting daily operational checks and records for all processes and equipment. Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties for the permission include (but are not limited to): * Maintaining current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of RME appropriate to this position; * Disassembling the RME and determining the correct cleaning method, such as, but not limited to, ultrasonic cleaners, mechanical washers/disinfectors, cart washers and chemical cleaning/decontamination agents, as determined by manufacturer instructions; * Inspecting, assembling and determining the correct method and packaging for sterilization, such as, but not limited to steam, Sterrad, Steris, and high-level disinfecting scope re-processors; * Consulting with Sterile Processing and Infection Control when clarification of written instruction is required. * Performing the testing of critical and utility water on a daily basis as required; * Documenting training in the setup, reprocessing and maintenance of specific equipment. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 12:00pm - 8:30pm, subject to change based on needs of the Agency Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
