Temporary Administrative Assistant Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University. This is a temporary full-time, non-academic staff, benefits eligible opportunity with a six-month appointment. Department Background The Scheinman Institute is the nation's leading center for the study of workplace conflict resolution, engaging in a broad range of research, teaching, and outreach activities. The Opportunity The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Temporary Administrative Assistant in the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution in the Extension/Outreach Division. This temporary position will provide a wide variety of general administrative support for the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution. This position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, working hybrid campus to home schedule. Responsibilities We are seeking candidates who appreciate and will take ownership in the following, and not limited to: General administrative support maintain supply order, copy machine, water cooler Print materials, name tents, name badges, certificates Maintain reservations for faculty members Schedule students for mediations Prepare/create PowerPoint presentations Monitor Canvas sites for faculty courses/programs Coordinate conference logistics Maintain project timelines and track shipping materials Provide customer service support Prepare and send surveys Process invoices and fiscal transactions Process travel reimbursements Proof, copy edit, and format written materials The candidate needs to have established the following: Work successfully as part of a team Communicate professionally Manage multiple tasks Prioritize work on simultaneous projects Work successfully under pressure with minimal supervision at a variety of tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented, diverse office setting Qualifications We require these qualifications: Associate's degree and a minimum of two to four years of relevant experience in an office setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, manage events and special assignments. Proven ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks while working within a fast-paced, busy team environment. Prior event and meeting planning and coordination experience. Must possess the ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to interact tactfully with diverse groups of individuals. Ability to take initiative and be a pro-active team member. Must have outstanding organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including proofreading and editing skills, and experience taking meeting minutes. Expertise in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendar. Experience using online meeting platforms such as Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. General database operating knowledge. Available to work occasional evenings and weekends with prior notice. Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing. Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Minimum five years of experience in an office setting (preferably academic based). Experience with Qualtrics survey software. Working knowledge of document internet accessibility standards desirable. Knowledge of Cornell University travel and reimbursement and payment request policy and systems. Pay Rate $27.00$27.50 per hour, depending on experience.
