Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Experience: • 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months. • 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience. • Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred. Requirements: • Candidates must have a Indiana license or compact license (required after submission). • This role may require floating to additional units and locations • Travel only, local not allowed. • 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Aya Program - IU Health and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - IU Health. • 12 months gap required between for Per Diem at Program: Aya Program - IU Health and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - IU Health. Additional Details: Required Skills/Experience: 3 North is a medical-surgical unit specializing in post-operative care of colorectal surgery patients. Candidates may care for patients in negative-airflow rooms. Skills: Gastrointestinal, Bowel obstruction, Feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/Phlebotomy, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Medications, Insulin, PCA, Professional Knowledge and Skills, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Wound Care/Wound Vac, Work Settings, Med/Surg, Respiratory, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen administration, Oxygen tanks, Plastics, Surgical drains, Additional Skills, Trauma Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience or interest in precepting new nurses is preferred. Skills: Colostomy/ileostomy management/care, Heparin Required Credentials: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program. Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing. Must be fit-tested for an N95 mask or trained to use a PAPR device for care of patients in negative-airflow rooms. Pending operational needs, charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with training and resources provided. IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities; travelers must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow during the assignment. IN residents are considered local. Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend required. Consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational need. Floating Requirements: May float to different levels of care, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals.
