Two years relevant specialist experience or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is desirable. Direct student affairs experience preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Nature & Purpose of Position Performs highly advanced specialist duties for the department, college, or division. Utilize customer service skills, the student affairs specialist position will work with students and other departments to establish strong working relationships and provide guidance to students and their student organizations/clubs regarding financial, personal, and logistical needs. Coordinates, implements, and supervises program and event activities. Primary Responsibilities Performs highly advanced specialist duties. Accountable for the execution and follow through of complex and technical responsibilities. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates and monitors programs or services. Responds to information request. Collects, reconciles, and maintains complex data. Coordinates and implements departmental processes. Oversees all student organizations at the Conroe campuses (COM and Health Professions). Maintains and provides student organizations officers with current organizational by-laws. Responsible for updating and providing Student Organization training and Student Organization Advisor training. Assists with annual registration processes, new organization approvals, constitution compliance, and student organization recognition. Collaborates with Medical Student Affairs in the oversight and advisory of student groups. Assists with recruitment and retention of student volunteers and develops training and assessment for student leadership. Contributes to the educational and personal development of student organizations and students. Provides fiscal oversight, supports fundraising efforts and reviews requests for travel funds and plans for student groups. Serves as the chair of the Student Organization Development Fund (SODF) committee. Advises student groups on marketing, administration, and logistics for programs and events. Evaluates and assesses appropriate risk management policies and issues of campus safety for student programs and events. COM Anthology Branch (BearkatHQ - formerly OrgLink). Assists with planning and coordinating Campus Activities & Involvement events at the Conroe campuses (COM and Health Professions). Coordinates, implements, and supervises program and event activities. Prepares letters, correspondence, and reports. Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Manages Develops, coordinates, and implements assigned processes. Provides assistance with and interprets policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. This is a Division of Student Affairs position that provides direct support to programs and events at the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and Health Professions programs at the SHSU Conroe campus. Other Specifications Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems.
