Job Description:
McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. An orthopedic surgeon is sought for an academic teaching position focused on resident clinical and surgical education. Fellowship training is welcome but not required. A strong interest in surgical fracture care is preferred to support a Level III trauma center. The selected candidate will advance the department's mission through teaching, research, Position Key Accountabilities: The Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery will participate in research, teaching, clinical service, administrative, and other activities. Responsibilities: * Participating in the UTPOrtho practice at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (LBJ). * Collaborating with other physicians within the department and the University. * Being involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group * Providing feedback regarding office operations, including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment. * Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents * Supporting the research mission of the department and university through: Ø Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff. Ø Assisting when requested with a collection of research data, including biological specimens and Ø Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects. Qualifications: * Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. * Required board certification through the American Board of Surgery.
