MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Description JOB SUMMARY: Assist in the Environmental Services and Maintenance Departments in the care and upkeep of interior/exterior building areas, keeping Clara Barton Hospital clean and in good condition. Maintenance Technician must be able to perform a variety of general mechanical and preventive maintenance such as Hospital floors, ground upkeep, variety of cleaning duties and light maintenance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Meet attendance and punctuality guidelines Must be able to learn and follow verbal and written instructions. Wet and/or dry mop all hospital floors as well as stripping, waxing and polishing floors Ability to operate variety of equipment such as buffing and scrubbing machines Ability to operate vacuum sweeper to do carpets in both Clara Barton Hospital and Clara Barton Rural Health Clinic Collects and removes trash, hazardous waste (such as change sharp boxes) to designated containers as needed Cleans work areas, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures Ability to climb ladders to change ballast and/or light bulbs on as needed basis. Ability to mow, trim, paint, rake, sweep, and help with snow removal and grounds upkeep as well as assisting in special projects as needed Ability to work and/or do minor plumbing on an as needed basisAbility to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as needed Must be able to work on - call hours as needed Responsible to courier lab specimens, x-rays, etc. to Hays & Great Bend Hospitals. Any duties designed as light maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned but not limited to the above. Requirements KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Ability to follow written and oral instructions Ability to work outdoors with experience in grounds upkeep Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and employees Previous experience in environmental services or maintenance a plus Ability to operate and maintain machinery EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Requires a current valid driver's license At least six months' prior experience in a janitorial position preferred Live within ½ hour driving time of the hospital to be able to take call
