This role ensures effective identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections among patients, staff, and visitors, while promoting a safe care environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Infection Prevention programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.Monitor, track, and investigate infections and communicable diseases; identify trends and implement prevention strategies.Analyze surveillance data and report findings to leadership and relevant committees.Collaborate with departments to promote infection prevention best practices and ensure compliance.Lead or participate in performance improvement initiatives related to infection prevention.Provide education and training to staff, patients, and families on infection prevention practices.Serve as a liaison with Employee Health and public health agencies regarding infection-related matters.Review construction and environmental safety practices to minimize infection risks.Communicate public health alerts and regulatory updates to leadership.QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of an accredited nursing program or degree in a healthcare related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of 2 years of Infection Prevention experience in an acute care setting; preferred Knowledge of infection prevention standards and regulatory requirements.Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in basic computer applications.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:Illinois RN license preferred (or healthcare-related degree).Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) required or obtained within 12 monthsWORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed in both clinical and office settings, supporting adult patient populations.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this job.
