Job Description:
Secretary 240 day positionJob Goal: To contribute to the efficient operation of the office so that it can play an effective role in the education process. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of college preferred. Secretarial skills. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge and experience in basic office procedures and small office equipment. Must have excellent communication and telephone etiquette. The ability to work successfully with other professionals. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable. Responsibilities: Prompt and regular attendance. Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs and directs them to the proper person. Answers telephone calls and assists students and parents as needed. Maintains student sign in and out records. Receives sorts and distributes mail. Maintains various inventory lists as needed. Maintains the school uniform closet. Serves as student information system (PowerSchool) back-up person. Performs usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, productive office environment. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools. Physical Requirements: Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including: Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects. Terms of Employment: Salary shall be paid consistent on the System's approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
