Maintenance Mechanic for Herkimer County Community College Housing Corporation

Job Description: Herkimer County Community College's Housing Corporation is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic. The Housing Corporation is a not-for-profit that provides housing facilities to Herkimer College students. This position requires basic and semi-advanced skills in one or more of the following skilled grades: Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical. A good working knowledge in all of the trades mentioned is desired with a concentration in one of those skills preferred. Additional duties include (but not limited to), snow removal, mowing, trimming, painting, operation of miscellaneous groundskeeping equipment, light housekeeping duties and all other duties as assigned. This is a preventive and corrective maintenance position and not one of new construction. Requirements: The selected individual must possess the physical ability to do medium to heavy labor, both inside and outdoors and must have a clean NYS Driver's license. Additional requirements include: A positive approach towards tasks and a "no-job-is-too-small" mentality Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance Willingness to be on-call for emergencies and after-hours repairs Self motivated to research repairs independently and willingness to ask for assistance from co-workers Ability to take instruction from co-workers and work effectively as part of a team Additional Information: The hourly rate for this position is $20.24 and the shift is 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Application Instructions: In order to be considered for this position, you must submit your credentials online.
