Visit us at Summary Description:The Chemist position within TOPPAN's Packaging Research Laboratory provides technical and analytical support to R&D, Operations, and Quality across the Flexible Packaging and Thermoforming businesses. This role is part of a collaborative laboratory team responsible for executing departmental activities and meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.The Chemist is expected to perform all assigned duties in a safe and compliant manner, become proficient in the operation of laboratory analytical equipment, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.What you'll be doing:Safely operate all laboratory equipment within the assigned area.Conduct advanced analytical testing of packaging substrates and materials.Identify technical problems, develop action plans, and execute effective solutions.Perform analytical equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Collaborate closely with R&D Engineers to support the development of new products and processes.Manage multiple and evolving requests while performing a variety of laboratory tasks daily.Provide accurate, timely results, interpretations, and status updates on assigned work.Maintain accurate records and generate technical reports as required.Perform repetitive physical tasks, including manual labor and lifting/carrying materials up to 30 lbs., as required.Participate in all required department and company training activities.Work non-standard hours and/or travel as business needs require.This is an onsite position located out of Hartsville, SC (Damascus Road Facility)We'd love to hear from you if:Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships across functions.Effective verbal and written communication skills; technical writing experience preferred.Strong work ethic, initiative, and self-motivation.Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.Excellent time management, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.Experience with polymer, packaging, physical, and analytical testing methodologies(experience with DSC, GC-MS, SEM preferred).Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to apply higher-level analytical thinking to problem solving.Ability to develop test protocols, methods, and experimental plans.Working knowledge of statistics for accurate data interpretation and reporting.Ability to generate insights, originate ideas, and make data-driven recommendations.Ability to work effectively under pressure with strong attention to detail.Mechanical aptitude is a plus.Demonstrated willingness to learn and expand technical knowledge in packaging, processing, and testing.Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Packaging Science, or Materials Science.Five (5) or more years of experience as a Chemist or Packaging Scientist is preferred.This is a progression level positionCompensation:The annual base salary range for this role is from $80,000 to $90,000At TOPPAN Packaging Americas, We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support our employees' overall wellbeing.
