This role owns the full product process, from initial concept and on-the-water testing to development, sourcing, launch, scaling, and eventual product sunset.The ideal candidate combines a passion for fishing with strong business acumen, attention to detail, and execution skills. This individual will drive innovation across rods, reels, lures, terminal tackle, and accessories while ensuring every product meets performance expectations, market demand, brand standards, and profitability targets.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProduct InnovationOwn the full lifecycle of fishing products, including ideation, design, prototyping, testing, launch, scaling, and discontinuationTake products from idea to sketch, prototype, test, production, launch, scale, and sunsetIdentify trends in freshwater fishing and quickly develop competitive, market-relevant productsCollaborate with pro staff, anglers, and internal teams to gather insights and validate product conceptsGet on the water to test, refine, and ensure products perform as intendedTranslate product ideas into detailed specifications, including materials, performance standards, and target costsOwn the details and success of every itemManage multiple product development timelines simultaneously from concept through productionMaintain detailed project plans to ensure deadlines and deliverables are metHit deadlines, solve problems, and deliver as promisedCoordinate packaging, branding, and go-to-market readiness with internal teamsDevelopment, Testing & SourcingOversee development of rods, reels, lures, terminal tackle, and accessoriesCoordinate field testing with anglers to validate durability, action, performance, and usabilityRefine products based on real-world feedback to ensure best-in-class performanceEnsure all products meet brand standards for quality, function, and designLead sourcing efforts with domestic and international manufacturers, with a focus on Asia-based suppliersDevelop new supplier sources as requiredMake quick, informed decisions to bring products to market efficientlyNegotiate pricing, MOQs, and timelines to meet margin targets and delivery schedulesClearly communicate deadlines and requirements with suppliers to ensure accurate item development and timely deliveryTravel to factories as needed to oversee production, improve processes, and maintain quality standardsBuild long-term supplier relationships that support innovation, consistency, and cost efficiencyLeadership & Business ManagementManage product-level P&L, including cost targets, pricing strategy, and margin performanceDrive category profitability through strategic assortment planning, forecasting, and cost managementAnalyze sales performance and adjust product mix, inventory commitments, and pricing to maximize revenue and marginsManage long-range planning for product development and product lifecycle replacementDevelop strategic plans to evolve the product line ahead of the marketLead, do not followShare packaging, branding, and go-to-market expectations with internal teams to support successful launchesServe as the primary point of contact for all product-related initiativesClearly communicate product vision, timelines, and updates across sales, marketing, and operationsSupport sales teams with product knowledge, positioning, and unique selling pointsAssist team members with product training and product knowledgePerform other duties as needed or assignedMinimum Qualifications3+ years of experience in product management, product development, or sourcing preferredFishing industry or outdoor consumer goods experience preferredStrong understanding of fishing techniques, gear, and market trendsProven experience managing products through the full product lifecycleExperience working with overseas manufacturers, particularly in Asia, preferredDemonstrated ability to manage margins and drive category profitabilityExceptional organizational and project management skillsAbility to work independently and lead projects from start to finishStrong communication skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracyProficient in Microsoft Office productsBachelor's or associate degree preferred but not required
