About the job Microbiologist Job Title: Quality Control MicrobiologistDepartment: Quality ControlReports To: QC Laboratory Supervisor/ManagerLocation: Gulfport, MSEmployment Type: Full-TimePay Range: $28-$30/hour, DOEPosition SummaryThe Quality Control Microbiologist plays a key role in supporting laboratory operations by performing microbiological testing on products, raw materials, and the manufacturing environment. This position ensures compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements through precise testing, thorough documentation, and adherence to established procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare samples, reagents, and culture media for microbiological testingPerform microbiological analyses using aseptic techniques, plating methods, gram staining, and environmental monitoringOperate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipmentAccurately document, analyze, and report test results in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standardsSupport laboratory investigations, including deviations and out-of-specification resultsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and R&D as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environmentRequired Qualifications & SkillsWorking knowledge of microbiological laboratory techniques and practicesFamiliarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SOPs, and quality control systemsUnderstanding of quality processes including deviations, CAPAs, and change controlStrong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentationEffective time management and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and in a team-oriented laboratory environmentProficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office or similar)Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field, or equivalent laboratory experience3-5 years of relevant microbiology laboratory experienceExperience with AET (Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing) requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds as neededAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the workday
