Position Title: Advisor SHSW Nursing Programs Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Academic Advisor Job Duties: This position reports to the Student Success Center Director in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness and is responsible for School recruitment efforts, enrollment management, and student success initiatives which includes academic advising. On a day-to-day basis, the Academic Advisor is responsible for managing the Nursing 1+2+1 Partnership Program, collaborative initiatives that impact outreach and recruitment, retention, and student success of undergraduates in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. The work of this individual is highly complex and ever-changing to best meet the needs of students in various academic programs. The Academic Advisor collaborates and connects School, college and campus constituents and external constituents to leverage program efforts and School initiatives and serves as the primary academic adviser to a select group of students and provides advising support when needed for students across the entire School. Key Job Responsibilities: * Proactively engages students as needed * Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures * Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum * Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies * Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers * Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college * Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources Department: School of Health Sciences and Wellness Compensation & Benefits: The working title is a full-time, salaried, exempt, academic staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $48,000 - $55,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree * Professional work experience in advising, career services, admissions, and/or student services in a college or university setting OR background as a healthcare professional * Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree * Professional experience advising nursing students is highly desirable * Ability to encourage and motivate students with a strong commitment to student success * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment * Attentive to detail and strong record-keeping and data management skills * Demonstrated effective use of technology How to Apply: TO ENSURE CONSIDERATION: Applications received by 04 /27/2026 are ensured full consideration.
