This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Duties: * Cardiologist is a staff physician with special training and skill in finding, treating and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels. * Cardiologist treat array of symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pains, or dizzy spells as well as specialized testing to identify possible specific concerns. Heart murmurs or ECG changes need the evaluation of a cardiologist. The staff physicians also counsel patients about the risks of heart disease and work with support staff and the patient on how to prevent it. * Cardiologists are involved in the treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, and serious heart rhythm disturbances. Their skills and training are required for decisions that involve procedures such as cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, or heart surgery. The Cardiology Section of Medicine Service functions under the overall management of the Section Chief of Cardiology. The physician functions within an interdisciplinary staff consisting of physicians, physician extenders, technicians, administrative and clerical staff. He/she is responsible and accountable for ensuring the provision of comprehensive clinical (& procedural) services and complies with established policies within the Department of Medicine/Cardiology section. Administrative Duties: * Obligations/Responsibilities: Attending required staff meetings, communicating up and down the chain of command, and helping prepare heads-up and issue briefs related to adverse patient outcomes. * Clinical Management including indirect patient care: open encounter and open consult maintenance, CPRS documentation requirements, monitoring of clinic management. Maintains involvement in matters concerning clinic productivity, relevant performance measures, Quality and Patient Safety oversight, as well as process improvements (system redesigns). Clinical Duties: The incumbent is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board.
