Border Patrol Agent (BPA) Entry Level Exciting opportunity to join the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) as a Border Patrol Agent with newly introduced recruitment and retention incentives! This position offers a chance to work with a dedicated team of professionals committed to protecting the nation. Attractive Salary and Benefits: The annual base salary for newly appointed BPAs ranges from $49,739 to $89,518, depending on grade level. As you progress through the career ladder from GL-5 to GS-12, you may earn up to an additional 25% of base pay based on the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. Recruitment Incentive: Receive up to $20,000 upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy and acceptance of prioritized assignments. Key Responsibilities: As a BPA, you will contribute to safeguarding the nation by: Identifying and questioning individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations. Preventing illegal border crossings and apprehending those in violation of the law. Interpreting evidence of unauthorized entries and inspecting documentation. Conducting various patrols and checks using government vehicles and assets. Qualifications: For GL-5 Grade Level: - One year of general work experience that demonstrates decision-making ability and composure under stress. OR, a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. OR, a combination of work experience and education. For GL-7 Grade Level: - One year of specialized work experience in law enforcement or a related field. OR, a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one year of graduate-level education related to law enforcement. Additional Requirements: - Must be a U.S. Citizen - Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years - Must be under 40 years old unless eligible for an age waiver through previous federal service Training: Successful candidates will complete six months of comprehensive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, including operational and law enforcement instruction, driver training, and physical techniques.
