Job Description:
Purpose/ScopeResponsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of environmental, health, and safety programs so that Fabcon follows legal and regulatory requirements and provides a safe and healthy place to work. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist management in the development of overall environmental, health, and safety program for plant and field operationsLead the implementation of the Fabcon Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) roadmapAssist in the leadership of identifying, controlling, and eliminated workplace hazardous conditions and unsafe employee activitiesDevelop, implement, and conduct EHS training programsLead and conduct work area EHS inspections/audits and ensure compliance to regulatory and Fabcon standardsDevelop action plans to address safety issues and environmental complianceConduct field Site Safety Assessments (SSA's)Lead the incident investigation processManage all EHS documentation to include such things as incident investigations, training, permits, etc.Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures, and implement corrective action as requiredAudit and complete environmental reports i.e. Storm Water Permit, Air Quality Permit, etc.Maintain all EHS regulatory permits and ensure complianceLocation contact for regulatory EHS agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA)Conduct prestart safety reviewsManage return to work/modified duty programManaging Workers Compensation (WC) claimsEnsure that company facilities and practices are in compliance with government EHS regulationsIssue safety equipmentMake recommendations to senior management regarding compliance to local, state, and federal regulatory industriesEnsure adherence to safety standards in all areas and departments and advise management on needed actionsMaintain professional and technical knowledge by reading and attending continuing education workshops for safety and environmental professionalsPartners with the Risk Coordinator and HR to drive compliance with Fabcon's drug testing programLead local pandemic response management.Basic QualificationsMinimum five (5) years of experience in safety field Other Required QualificationsGood presentation and training skills Good people skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to develop and implement environment and safety programs Ability to establish and maintain record keeping in compliance with all company and regulatory agencies Able to set high standards and get results Ability to lead, motivate and influence with and without direct authority Strong situational analysis skills, to identify problems and solutions Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and e-mail) Good knowledge of state, federal, and local laws pertaining to the general industry and construction industry Understanding of county and state environmental compliance issues in all areas that Fabcon produces and erects Preferred QualificationsCertified safety professional and/or safety degree preferred College degree desired Physical RequirementsAbility to travel Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time Field (periodic): Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer Plant/Yard (periodic): Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection Work EnvironmentThis position works in office and plant environments with occasional travel and visits to field construction sites Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
