Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing expert radiation therapy to patients in need. This full-time role involves administering prescribed radiation doses safely and effectively using advanced therapy equipment, ensuring precise patient positioning and imaging according to treatment plans. Key Responsibilities: Deliver radiation treatments accurately following established protocols. Perform daily safety and operational checks on linear accelerators and simulation devices. Simulate patients under physician guidance and fabricate custom immobilization devices. Document treatments, schedule appointments, and manage charges through electronic health records. Provide patient education and reassurance, addressing questions and supporting families throughout treatment. Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety standards for patients, staff, and self. Train and supervise students or junior radiotherapy technologists. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards. Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program is required. Experience: At least one year of experience in radiation oncology is preferred. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Computer proficiency is a plus. Certifications and Licenses: Must be a Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT) or registry eligible, with certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current American Heart Association BLS certification is also required. Mental and Physical Requirements: This role demands considerable mental focus and the ability to work under stressful conditions related to patient care. Physical activities include lifting up to 60 lbs., frequent walking, standing, turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions: Exposure to standard radiation safety hazards, minimal radioactive materials, and occasional contact with biohazards and infectious materials. Flexible scheduling and on-call duties are part of the position.
