Invasive Species Project Coordinator

Description The Invasive Species Project Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the PRISM's mission by developing, implementing, and coordinating a diverse portfolio of programs concerning invasive species prevention, monitoring, and control. The Invasive Species Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful execution of diverse initiatives and adapting activities to meet evolving organizational needs and regional priorities. This position requires strong collaboration with PRISM staff, partners, and the public. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the planning, coordination, and day-to-day management of educational programs, including citizen science initiatives, workshops, technical trainings, and community events, ensuring alignment with PRISM goals. Design and refine program content and materials for a variety of target audiences, utilizing innovative and effective pedagogical approaches. Support a strategic online communications plan to broadly disseminate information about invasive species impacts, prevention, and management opportunities. Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and participants. Monitor program effectiveness. Provide comprehensive reporting on project activities. Serve as a representative of the PRISM through public presentations, partnership meetings, and outreach events. Support other invasive species programming as needed, including planning, field work, and reporting. OTHER INFORMATION This is a full-time, benefits eligible administrative hourly non-exempt position with current funding expected to continue through December 31, 2026. Position is based out of the Finger Lakes Institute at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The Finger Lakes PRISM is one of eight PRISMs supported via funding from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund as administered by NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation. Willingness and ability to travel and to work nights and weekends on occasion. Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license required. Employee will be reimbursed at the federally approved rate for work related travel when using personal vehicle This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Pay rate is $21/ hr. Together, the experiences and mentorship at HWS prepare students to lead lives of consequence. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field. Knowledge of invasive species and their impact on ecosystems. Proficiency in using GIS and other relevant software for mapping and data analysis. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Willingness to work in outdoor field conditions and travel to various project sites. Ability to work on various teams on projects with overlapping scopes and timelines. Experience with project management and collaboration with diverse stakeholders is a plus.
