About the Role Our client is seeking a Human Resource/Payroll Specialist to support their construction operations. In this position, you will play a key role in HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, employee relations, and compliance. You'll work closely with their Controller/Business Services Manager and contribute to building efficient HR processes that support our employees and organizational goals. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily HR operations and ensure smooth workflow across HR functional areas. Provide support in talent management, performance management, and employment law compliance. Assist with recruitment activities, including job posting, screening, and onboarding. Monitor employee attendance and issue corrective documentation when necessary. Serve as an employee relations specialist, assisting employees and supervisors with issue resolution. Support development and implementation of HR processes, policies, and systems. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulations. Process and audit I-9 forms to maintain legal compliance. Coordinate and track employee performance evaluations to ensure timely completion. Maintain and monitor workers' compensation case files and follow-up on open cases. Manage employee benefits eligibility, enrollment, changes, and cancellations. Coordinate annual open enrollment, including communications and tracking benefit changes. Administer COBRA for applicable group health plans. Assist with timekeeping and payroll processing. This is a direct-hire, full-time position, hiring ASAP. The schedule can vary slightly, depending on work and projects, but generally day shift, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting pay is $30 per hour. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources OR 3-5 years of HR experience (including at least 2 years in employee relations). Strong interpersonal, communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. 2-3 years' experience with HR/Payroll software preferred; experience with Sage/Intacct and Miter is a plus. Self-motivated team player with strong people skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information.
