Job Description:
Overview The Assistant Executive Director (AED) works collaboratively with the Executive Director to support both short-term and long-term strategic planning for the organization. This role provides administrative leadership and operational oversight across multiple divisions, including organ recovery, donation advocacy, and data/quality functions. The AED ensures organizational performance, compliance, and quality outcomes while maintaining strong internal and external partnerships critical to mission success. Responsibilities * Collaborates with the Executive Director in the development and execution of short-term and long-term strategic plans. * Provides direct administrative oversight of three departments, including leadership support to two Directors overseeing clinical operations and donation advocacy. * Oversees daily operations of the Organ Recovery Division, including frequent communication with the Director of Clinical Operations regarding donor volumes, staffing, and operational needs. * Oversees daily operations of the Donation Advocacy Division, including regular communication with the Director regarding referrals, authorizations, staffing, and workflow performance. * Provides administrative oversight and supervision of the Data and Quality Division. * Serves as the administrative leader for the organization's Quality Program, including: * Providing direction to the QA Committee * Serving as Chair of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee * Providing direct oversight of the QAPI program * Ensures ongoing compliance with OPTN/UNOS policies and CMS Conditions for Coverage (CfCs) for OPOs. * Maintains and strengthens key external relationships and serves as the organization's liaison with: * Local tissue and eye banks * The contact center * District Medical Examiners and investigators Qualifications Education + Experience (Must meet one of the following): * Master's degree in business, Management, or Leadership AND 3 years of experience as a high-level manager or director within an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) OR * Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field AND 5 years of experience as a Director within an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) OR * Extensive OPO experience defined as 10+ years in progressively responsible roles, including leadership responsibilities such as: * Training and onboarding new staff * Policy development * Survey readiness support * Mentoring/coaching * Significant involvement in the quality program (QAPI) Required Knowledge & Experience * Experience with organ procurement program operations * Experience in hospital administration and/or hospital development * Experience in contract negotiations * Demonstrated knowledge of: * Federal standards for OPOs (CMS / OPTN) * State standards (AHCA) * Public relations * Hospital services * Quality assurance / quality program functions within an OPO
