This position provides education, prevention, and intervention services related to substance use and abuse, while fostering a safe, supportive, and mission-driven environment that empowers young people to succeed in training and in life.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional & Educational DutiesDeliver structured group instruction on substance abuse awareness, prevention, and healthy decision-makingIntegrate lessons into the Career Success Standards curriculum, ensuring students understand the impact of substance use on employability and workplace safetyDevelop and maintain lesson plans, educational materials, and workshops tailored to diverse learning needsProvide orientation sessions for new students on Job Corps' zero-tolerance policies and wellness resourcesStudent Support & CounselingConduct individual assessments to identify students at risk for substance use issuesProvide short-term counseling, motivational interviewing, and referrals to community resources when neededCollaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Wellness staff, and Residential Advisors to ensure coordinated student careSupport students in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and personal responsibilityCompliance & Program ManagementEnsure compliance with the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) regarding TEAP servicesMaintain accurate and confidential records of student participation, progress, and referralsParticipate in case management meetings and contribute to student success planningProvide staff training on recognizing and responding to substance use concernsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required; Master's degree preferredCertification or licensure in substance abuse counseling (CADC, LADC, or equivalent) REQUIREDMinimum 2 years of experience in substance abuse prevention, counseling, or educationExperience working with at-risk youth or young adults is highly desirableStrong communication, facilitation, and motivational skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, mission-driven environment
