Job Summary: The Manager of Behavioral Health Advanced Practice role is intended for an existing provider who will shift a portion of their clinical time into administrative leadership (0.3 FTE). The Psychiatric C/L Medical Director is responsible for leading our hospital-based consultation psychiatry team. The Medical Director will oversee the delivery of psychiatric consultation services to medical and surgical inpatients, collaborate with medical teams, and ensure the integration of behavioral health care throughout the hospital. This leadership role combines clinical service with administrative oversight to support high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care in a complex medical environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Lead and manage the psychiatric consult/liaison service across inpatient medical, surgical, critical care, and other inpatient units. * Provide direct psychiatric consultation to hospitalized patients with behavioral health needs, including diagnostic assessments, psychopharmacologic treatment, and care coordination. * Oversee and support C/L psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, residents, and trainees, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team. * Collaborate with attending physicians, hospitalists, specialists, nursing, case management, and palliative care teams to optimize behavioral health support for medically ill patients. * Oversee coverage schedules, workflows, and clinical documentation to ensure timely and effective consult response. * Ensure compliance with all documentation, billing, and regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS, and the Texas Administrative Code). * Promote integration of psychiatric services into hospital operations, including delirium prevention, suicide risk management, capacity evaluations, and substance use interventions. * Lead quality improvement initiatives targeting psychiatric care in medical settings (e.g., reducing readmissions, improving pain management and opioid use strategies). * Develop and support educational initiatives for hospital staff and medical trainees on behavioral health topics. * Participate in system-level behavioral health planning, policy development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Qualifications: Required Education: * Current Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine. * Residency training in Psychiatry * Fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: * Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas * Board Certification or Board Eligible.
