Surgery - General Nurse Practitioner

Coverage Needed: Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing Schedule: 7 on/7 off preferred, Mon-Sun Days: 7:00 am - 7:00 pmNights: 7:00 pm - 7:00 amClinical Details: Department: Cardiovascular Surgery- Critical Care ICU Trauma Level: 2 Patient Encounters Per Shift: 8-10 inpatient Average Phone Consults: 5 EMR: Cerner Call: In-House for Assigned Patients Call Response Time: 20 minutes Call Ratio: 1:3 Call Back %: 25 Phone Consults: 5 Admissions: 3 Can go back to the hotel to take call and be available for call back to the hospital May be OR call for emergencies while on call for the weekend if needed Admissions required Rounding: Surgeon also helps with rounding in the morning Support Staff: Rounding nurse from 5am-5pm on weekends who takes the first line phone calls and helps with orders Duties: Daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU, stepdown) and new consults as well as discharging patients OR - EVH hemapro 2 Train new APPs on EVH; some open vein harvest may be needed with some fem-pop surgeries usually done in a bridging technique First assist on some cases once surgeon's routines are learned Facility Specialties: Cardiac - all adult cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections, etc); High acuity of patients, some very sick thoracic - mostly robotic surgeries but some VATs and thoracotomies; Inclusive of all thoracic surgeries except no esophageal (lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal mass, etc), Vascular - all types of open vascular surgeries (CEA, AAA , leg revascularizations, etc), heart failure - LVAD, ECMO, impellas Requirements: Board Certified: Nurse Practitioner - Cardiovascular Surgery, Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery Licensed in IN or IMLC Fellowship required ACLS, BLS certifications Cardiothoracic experience required PAs must know how to perform EVH
