Engineering Representative I 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday (hours may vary) | Full-time Detail-driven problem solver who enjoys helping customers, keeping projects moving, and turning complex utility processes into clear, organized solutions.What You'll Do You'll be the go-to support for Development Services - helping residents, contractors, and developers navigate water and sewer permits, fees, and utility requirements while keeping projects compliant, organized, and on track. If you like a mix of customer service, technical coordination, and behind-the-scenes problem solving, this role offers variety and impact every day. Key Responsibilities Support customers and contractors by answering inquiries and guiding them through permitting and utility processes Process fees, contracts, service orders, and daily cash reconciliations accurately Coordinate permits, inspections, developer agreements, and project documentation Maintain and digitize records in systems like Accela and GIS to keep projects organized and compliant Collaborate with engineering staff and City departments to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward What You Bring | Education & Experience Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or related field required; Bachelor's preferred Relevant experience may substitute for education Experience in permitting, utilities, construction support, public works, or municipal services is a plus Strong customer service and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Preferred Certifications Valid Indiana Driver's License (if operating a City vehicle) Technical Skills & Knowledge Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience with systems such as Accela, GIS/ArcMap, Application Xtender, or similar permitting/database tools Ability to interpret regulations, technical documents, and property records Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Your work directly supports safe, reliable water and sewer services for our community.
