Purpose Statement: The technology/engineering teacher is responsible for teaching upper school students at Calvary Christian Academy. The teacher will instruct students as required by the curriculum objectives established by Calvary Christian Academy. The specific focus of this role is to minister to students through quality instruction with a biblical foundation. Scope: This person interacts directly with students, and with parents, staff, and administrators on behalf of students. This position guides students in classroom learning that will motivate them to reach their academic and spiritual potential and help accomplish our school mission. Youth discipleship and the handling of confidential student concerns are a critical parts of this position. Specific Responsibilities:Model Christ in word and deedTake guidance and counsel from your Department HeadWrite lesson plans for all classes on a weekly basisTeach the entire assigned curriculum utilizing national standards and biblical integrationEstablish and maintain communication with parents as specified by administrative policyRead Calvary Christian Academy email/staff communications and respond if requestedBe available for student questions, concerns, and ministry before or after school.Engage students in active learningUse assessments to re-teach lessonsCreate materials for differentiated instructionWork with School Leader to plan intervention services for studentsProvide educational/personal/social counseling.Orients new students to provide a comfortable and successful introduction to CCA.Attend/participate in Back to School Night and other school scheduled events by the administrationParticipate in the accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement planParticipate in professional development to stay current in your field.Participate in scheduled department meetingsFulfill any assigned supervisor dutiesDecorate the classroom seasonally, scripturally, and quarterlyWork collaboratively with other staff and teachers dailyAttend the Chapel that is scheduled for your predominant grade levelAdhere to the specified professional dress codeCompile and maintain an up to date substitute folderSecure and straighten up the classroom at the end of each dayMust be able to lift 40 pounds and sit or stand for an extended period of time Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:Strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His WordStrong commitment to the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel and to the Mission Statement of Calvary Christian AcademyExcellent interpersonal skills with regard to children, their parents, and their colleagues.Committed to ongoing professional development to maintain certifications and professional knowledge in order to meet met annual license requirements.Spiritual gifts of teaching, discernment, administration, leadership, service, and exhortationCommunication and Group facilitation skillsFlorida State Teaching Certification and/or Florida Professional Certification, ACSI certification.Superior communication skillsEnergetic, motivated, innovative, and preparedAn ability to work collaboratively Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Full time (40 hours/week); however, may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, assist with a special project or in a circumstantial emergency affecting the church facilities.
