Position Type: Community Education Department/Community Education Staff Date Posted: 11/25/2025 Location: Community Education Swim Lesson Instructors, Lifeguards, and Aides FOLEY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Foley Public Schools/Community Education Foley Public Schools/Community Education is accepting applications for our winter swimming lessons staff and public open swim hours. Positions available include: swim lesson instructors, lifeguards, and swim instructor aides. Candidates may work in multiple positions if interested and if all required certifications are met. Positions begin as early as December and run through March. Requirements Must be at least 16 years of age Must hold required certifications for applicable positions Scheduling Flexible schedules based on candidate availability and preferred position(s) Evening and/or weekend hours are available Scheduling Flexible schedules based on candidate availability and preferred position(s). Job Descriptions: Swim Instructor-Water Safety Instructor (Red Cross WSI certification required) Facilitate the teaching of group and/or private lessons, according to the pool curriculum. Evaluate swimmers for pre-testing, mid session reports, testing and end of session evaluations. At times, work with a swim aide and provide instruction, redirection and feedback Lifeguard (certification required)- Oversee the supervision and safety of all swimming groups in the pool during swim lessons, open swim, water aerobics and pool parties. Provide water rescue and first aid in the case of any incident and facilitate any documentation that is required. Make sure that pool and safety equipment is up to date and ready for use before and after any group uses the pool. At times, may help aid any WSI in teaching a group swim lesson. Swim Instructor Aide- Under the direct supervision of the Swim Instructor, help aid in the teaching of group lessons according to the pool curriculum. Help the Swim Instructor evaluate swimmers for pre-testing, mid session reports, testing and end of session evaluations. Be responsible for the handling of pool equipment before and after lessons.
