What you'll do in the day-to-day: As the Plant Manager you are responsible for the end-to-end performance of a single manufacturing site. You will operate the facility as a standalone business and are fully accountable for safety, cost, quality, delivery, and the people within that site. As the Plant Manager, you are expected to create a disciplined operating environment where daily execution is stable, performance gaps are recognized early, losses are contained immediately, and recurring issues are eliminated through structured problem solving. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership Expectations: Act as general manager of the site. Own outcomes. Lead with discipline and integrity. Build systems that sustain results. Safety & Compliance: Own safety performance for the site and lead a zero-injury culture. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer requirements. Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions address root causes. Hold leaders accountable for safe behaviors and standard work execution. Daily Execution & Operating Rhythm: Lead shift-level tiered meetings and daily performance reviews. Define daily goals based on actual production mix and constraints. Drive early recognition of performance gaps and immediate intervention. Maintain visibility to production status, labor, scrap, downtime, and delivery risk. Financial & Cost Ownership: Own site financial performance including labor, scrap, overhead, and inventory. Translate monthly budgets into daily operating targets. Manage cost drivers using data and facts. Deliver measurable and sustainable financial improvements. Scrap, Quality & Continuous Improvement: Own scrap and quality performance. Manage scrap using order-level targets, containment, and escalation. Lead structured root-cause problem solving. Eliminate recurring issues, not manage around them. People Leadership & Organization Effectiveness: Build and develop the site leadership team. Define ownership, expectations, and accountability. Coach leaders to act as owners. Address performance issues directly and timely. Planning, Scheduling & Inventory Management: Ensure production plans are executable and capacity-aligned. Balance service, cost, and stability. Own inventory accuracy and movement discipline. Equipment, Reliability & Capacity Management: Ensure equipment capability and reliability. Improve uptime, throughput, and changeovers. Identify and communicate capacity constraints. Communication & Transparency: Communicate performance clearly. Escalate risks early. Ensure accurate and actionable data. Key Measures of Success Safety and compliance Labor productivity and cost Scrap and yield On-time delivery Inventory and working capital Daily execution stability Closure of systemic gaps Leadership team capability Requirements: Education and Experience: College Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline preferred. At least 7 years' leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven record of leading manufacturing teams to meet or exceed company goals. Knowledge of flexographic or digital printing processes preferred. Lean / Six Sigma experience is preferred. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated cost, quality, and delivery ownership. Strong financial and data-driven leadership skills. Knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems and formal operating systems. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proactive, creative thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities. Ability to lead change and build consensus to achieve operational objectives. Proficient with Microsoft office (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook). Able to relate mechanical and technical concepts in non-technical language. Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision: Production Manager or Supervisor, Scheduler, and Maintenance. Indirect supervision of production team (press operators, rewinders, press helpers, shipping, warehouse, etc.), Customer Service, Pre-Press, and Quality. Training Requirements: Willing to attend the required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned. Physical Demands: Regular sitting and repetitive office tasks are required. Position frequently enters and interacts with production area and is required to stand, crouch, lift or do other physical tasks from time to time. Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening. Work Environment: Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment. Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment: Safety shoes, eye protection and other types of PPE may be required in the production area.
