CHESTERVILLE - FARMINGTON - INDUSTRY - NEW SHARON - NEW VINEYARD - STARKS TEMPLE - VIENNA - WELD - WILTON District Special Services CoordinatorEarly Elementary Special Education Department Applications due by March 22, 2026 Job Goal(s): To case manage, coordinate, and assist educators in providing appropriate educational programming and services for students with disabilities in Mt Blue RSD. The early elementary special services coordinator works with the special services district office team to provide comprehensive coaching and assistance to special services and general education staff in the provision of inclusive special education services. This provider will work with community childcare providers, Mt Blue Pre-K programs, and the buildings where pre-K programs are located: GD Cushing School (grades pre-K-1), WG Mallett School (grades pre-K-2), and Cape Cod Hill School (grades K-5 with HeadStart). Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Special Education Excellent communication, organizational, and data management skills Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and community members including childcare programs. Understanding of instruction, laws, and regulations for students with disabilities, particularly those in early childhood programs including Head Start and community childcare programs. Understanding of developmental domains and age appropriate skills of the age 3-5 population. Certifications Valid State of Maine Endorsement in one of the following areas: (035) Assistant Administrator of Special Education (030) Administrator of Special Education (282) Teacher: Child with Disabilities Performance Responsibilities Pre-K Facilitate and Chair IEP team meetings and staffing (carry administrative authority at IEP meetings) Review/Approve Written Notices, IEPs, and other documents, including monitoring deadlines for procedural compliance with federal laws Coordinate and participate in transition activities from ages 2 to 3, into pre-K programs, and into kindergarten Provide technical assistance and professional development to pre-K professional special education staff in the areas of program development, case management, and IDEA compliance as needed Serves as liaison between the Special Services Department, Pre-K staff in school buildings, and local area childcare centers to support early childhood special education learners, including those in the referral process Facilitate Child Find procedures Support LRE and best practices, including inclusionary practices Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or Assistant Director, as may be needed Performance Responsibilities Grades K-5 Facilitate and Chair IEP team meetings and staffing (Carry administrative authority at IEP meetings) Review/Approve Written Notices, IEPs, and other documents, including monitoring deadlines for procedural compliance with Federal Laws Case manage students in out-of-unit placements or specialized programs Coordinate transition activities for transitions to next school building at grades 1, 2 and 5 Provide technical assistance and professional development to all professional special education staff in the areas of program development, case management, and IDEA compliance as needed. Serves as liaison between the Special Services Department and building educators as assigned. Facilitate Child Find procedures, such as identifying referral questions and collaborating with school psychologists to establish evaluations. Conduct academic evaluations and observations as appropriate Support LRE and best practices, including inclusionary practices Assist with the coordination of contracted providers, alternate assessments, and SafetyCare training Assist and support district-wide professional development activities Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or Assistant Director, as may be needed Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise and evaluate educational technicians in day treatment and adaptive skills programs. Provide supervisory oversight, as necessary, for specialized programming, such as interim student programs, Day Treatment, and Adaptive Skills programs, when assigned. Participate in the screening and hiring of special education personnel. Education BS or BA (Master's degree preferred) in Special Education or related fields. Travel Requirements Travel between schools is required.
