About the Role: The Adventures Staff Lead plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and overseeing engaging informational and recreational activities within the arts, entertainment, and recreation industry. This position is responsible for leading a team of adventure staff to deliver safe, memorable, and high-quality experiences that inspire participants and foster a love for adventure and exploration. The role requires strategic planning, coordination, and execution of diverse adventure programs while ensuring compliance with safety standards and organizational policies. The Adventures Staff Lead acts as a mentor and motivator, cultivating a positive team environment that encourages professional growth and exceptional guest service. Ultimately, this position drives the success of adventure programming by balancing operational excellence with creativity and participant satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in recreation management or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience in educational and/or adventure programming or recreational leadership roles. Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Current certifications in first aid, CPR, and / or equivalent. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk management practices related to recreational activities. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in recreation management or a related discipline. Certifications in specialized adventure activities such as rock climbing or ropes courses. Experience with program development and budget management. Familiarity with participant engagement strategies and inclusive programming. Previous experience working within the arts, entertainment, and recreation industry. Responsibilities: Working Weekends is Required. Lead, train, and supervise a team of adventure staff to ensure the delivery of safe and engaging informational & recreational activities. Assist with daily coordination of activities including bus scheduling, group planning, and opening and closing facilities. When not filling a specific position, rotating regularly and walking the floor to identify needs or issues As needed, fill in for roles which have had call offs or no shows, breaks and load management for all front-line positions. Fulfill odd jobs including cleaning and troubleshooting of museum spaces, exhibits, or attractions. Run workshops and special events as needed and oversee group reservations. In absence of Adventures Operations Manager or Guest Relations Manager, act as Adventures Manager on duty. Assigning staff daily duties, dealing with customer concerns or complaints, and making various other line of duty decisions. Develop and implement adventure program schedules, including logistics, resource allocation, and risk management. Monitor and enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance to maintain a secure environment for all participants and staff. Collaborate with other departments to integrate adventure activities into broader event or recreational offerings. Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback and performance metrics, making continuous improvements. Manage inventory and maintenance of adventure equipment to ensure readiness and safety standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving on-site issues and emergencies during adventure activities. Foster a positive team culture by providing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities. Fulfill other duties as necessary for successful operations.
