Nursery/Finisher Associate

Job Type Full-timeDescriptionBelstra Group Farms is a pig production organization with over 20 swine farm facilities located in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is in search of individuals to fill full-time Nursery/Finisher Associate positions. Belstra Group Farms is committed to producing the highest quality of pigs. This individual is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all animals at the designated farm. The individual member must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): Identify health problems and provide treatments and care to nursery/finisher pigsMaking sure all the animals are taken care of properly and done in a timely manner according to the SOP's of the current farmLearn to properly mark market hogs and replacement giltsProperly move large pigs, when moving pens or loading trucksProviding enough feed and water for all the animalsKeeping accurate records of all genetic and treatments within the farmWork with the staff veterinarian to learn new ideas and tactics to implement on the farmMaintaining the cleanliness of the farm by power washing designated areasFollowing the Belstra Group Farms Animal Welfare Policy and proper PPE safety guidelinesShowing leadership and cooperation with the rest of the farm staffRequirementsSkills and Requirements (included but not limited to): Analytical skills to monitor and assess the health of the heard Interpersonal skills to effectively work with other team membersMust be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, and frequently noisy conditions.This position requires one who is multi-task orientedMust have a method of transportation to get to workMust be able to print and/ or write legibly Physical Demands: Stand, walk and be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day.Frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel.Frequently use one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull. (Employee uses power washer with 3000 psi force and 5 gallons per minute flow.)Frequently lift objects weighing 3 to 20 pounds.Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move.Work in different environments (dust, heat, cold) Education and Experience: • High school diploma or G.E.D• Previous pig production experience is a plus, but not required
