The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger accountability and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. This position reports to Landmark Dividend's Assistant Controller. Essential Functions: Prepares and records assets, liabilities, capital transactions, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing various GL accounts. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting. Review financial statement variances during month-end and ensure that accounting transactions are complete, and balances are accurate. Coordinate with accounting staff and other departments to ensure month end close is timely (including A/R and A/P items). Research items to properly explain month-over-month variances. Preparation of monthly accounting and management reports. Prepare wires, ACH or bank transfers as needed. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations as needed. Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including ensuring that outstanding items are cleared/resolved in a timely manner. Review cash receipt entries, monthly tenant billings, and lease agreements for completeness and accuracy before they are posted in the accounting system. Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes. Assist with the annual audit process by providing schedules, responding to inquiries, and other requests as needed from company's external auditors. Assist with entities' monthly/quarterly financial statements for debt compliance and related internal reporting workbooks. Assist with the preparation of various entities' audited financial statements, footnotes and related supporting schedules. Preparation of other ad hoc requests and projects. Other duties related to the ongoing operation of the organization may be assigned. Desired Skills: Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel-Vlook-up/Sum IF/Pivot Tables) and Yardi accounting software preferred. Strong attention to detail. Strong organizational and collaboration skills required to manage multiple, concurrent tasks, as well as the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment to meet strict deadlines. Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Problem solver/thinks outside the box/solutions oriented. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent preferred. Four to ten (4-10) years of accounting experience (property management environment preferred). Strong computer skills to include knowledge of accounting software programs and excel.
