Medical Lab Technician (MLT) | Endicott, New York

This contract opportunity is well-suited for skilled Medical Technologists or Medical Lab Technicians proficient in all areas of the laboratory, including the blood bank. You'll be essential in delivering quality laboratory analyses and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, while supporting a high-performing healthcare environment. Schedule: Sunday: 7:00 pm - 8:00 am Monday - Wednesday: 11:00 pm - 8:00 am 40 hours per week Qualifications: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS/CLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Demonstrated proficiency across all laboratory sections, especially in the blood bank At least six years of relevant laboratory experience preferred for those seeking supervisory responsibilities In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory practices and regulatory requirements (NYSDOH, CDC) Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills Strong computer skills for laboratory information systems and data entry Commitment to continuing education and professional growth Key Responsibilities: Perform routine and specialized clinical analyses; observe reactions, evaluate data, and recognize abnormal results Initiate appropriate responses for alert/critical values and troubleshoot quality control issues Conduct preventative maintenance, identify equipment failures, and support problem-solving processes Verify, post, and file test results using LIS and handle downtime reporting accurately Collect laboratory specimens from patients, selecting appropriate techniques for age/type of test Support training for new staff and students in lab methods and procedures Evaluate new testing methods for reliability and accuracy Participate in supervisory duties as needed, including oversight of lab operations in supervisor's absence Undertake other responsibilities as assigned to ensure seamless laboratory function This role offers a rewarding environment where your expertise and leadership in laboratory operations will be valued.
