Position Overview The Director of People Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Human Resources functions within a healthcare organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role partners closely with executive leadership to foster a people-first culture that supports employee engagement, workforce development, and organizational performance. This position will oversee HR strategy and operations for a workforce of more than 200 employees while managing employee relations, talent management, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance. The Director of People Services serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and plays a critical role in shaping a positive, high-performing work environment. Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Leadership Provide strategic leadership for the Human Resources function, aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals and operational priorities. Partner with executive leadership to support workforce planning, organizational development, and talent management strategies. Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and professional growth across the organization. Employee Relations & Workforce Engagement Lead employee relations initiatives and provide guidance on complex employee matters. Develop and implement strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. Build and maintain strong labor relations, including leading union negotiations and maintaining collaborative relationships with union representatives when applicable. Talent Management & Workforce Planning Oversee recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and employee development initiatives. Monitor staffing levels and support workforce planning strategies aligned with operational needs. Implement training and professional development programs to support employee growth and leadership development. HR Operations & Compliance Direct and evaluate HR operational processes including performance management, policy implementation, and complaint resolution. Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Coordinate and oversee internal and external Human Resources audits as required. Data, Reporting & Strategic Insights Analyze workforce metrics and HR data to identify trends related to engagement, staffing, retention, and organizational performance. Provide recommendations and proactive solutions to leadership based on workforce analytics. Financial & Administrative Oversight Develop and manage departmental budgets and ensure responsible use of organizational resources. Monitor HR operations to ensure alignment with organizational financial goals and performance objectives. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience. Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and workforce engagement initiatives. Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and drive organizational initiatives. Preferred Professional Human Resources certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR). Experience working in a healthcare environment. Experience with union or labor relations.
