JOB DESCRIPTIONDirector of Pre-K REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee FLSA STATUS: Exempt SUPERVISES: All school personnel POSITION STATUS: Contracted / Salaried EVALUATION INSTRUMENT: Leader Keys Effectiveness System (LKES) WORK YEAR: 210 days EVALUATION: Position evaluated by Superintendent SALARY SCHEDULE: State Salary + Local Supplement + Additional Days RETIREMENT: TRS VACATION: Yes TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid according to the system's approved salary schedule in addition to a local administrative supplement. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system. All full-time employees (at least 24 hours per week on a continuing basis and employment must be expected to last at least nine months) are eligible for health insurance. All teachers employed in professionally certificated capacity, provided he or she works half -time or more (but not less than 18 hours a week) and is not considered a temporary employee, emergency employee, or retired employee are eligible for health insurance. Any non-Teacher Retirement System (TRS) eligible employee will have a FICA deduction. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teacher certification Master's degree or higher in Educational Administration preferred or eligible for provisional certification Certification in Educational Leadership preferred or eligible for provisional certification At least five (5) years successful teaching or administrative experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing education in state and system, including special education and federal programs. JOB GOAL: To carry out the mission and goals of the school and system by providing leadership and vision necessary to develop and administer educational programs that optimize available human and material resources to provide effective, high quality educational experiences for students in a safe and orderly environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and all stakeholders to analyze academic achievement data and instructional programs to increase student learning and overall school effectiveness. Serves as an instructional leader. Models and promotes a positive school culture focused on student learning, shared decision-making, high expectations, and mutual respect. Models professionalism evidenced through appearance, character, and communications. Provides leadership and direction for the administrative and instructional functions of the school. Establish, communicate, and implement school safety measures, crisis emergency plans, and safety drills to create and sustain a safe and secure teaching/learning environment. Visible in all areas of the school during the school day. Follows federal, state, and local financial policies and procedures and reporting for school funds. Prepare and execute a fiscally responsible budget to support the school's mission and goals. Analyzes and disseminates data to improve quality of instruction. Ensures teachers plan for and execute instructionally effective lessons. Ensure the proper use and preservation of school facilities, grounds, furnishings, and equipment. Select, assign, support, evaluate and retain quality instructional and support personnel in accordance with local, state and federal requirements. Recognize and support the achievements of highly-effective teachers and staff; and support professional development and instructional practices that incorporate the use of achievement data and result in increased student progress. Implement employee evaluation systems fairly and consistently, within required timeframe and format, to document proficiencies and deficiencies; and to provide timely formal and informal feedback. Ensure that student records are properly completed, verified, and issued at designated times. Supervises conduct within the school and assists in all disciplinary procedures, including maintaining disciplinary records. Coordinates development and preparation of teacher and student handbooks. Develops a master schedule for teachers and students, including personnel assignments and duty rosters. Monitors attendance according to school policies. Coordinates and monitors the Student Support Team process to meet the needs of all students. Coordinates and facilitates teacher planning and collaboration. Conducts staff meetings for the purpose of school improvement. Oversees the student registration process. Oversees and assists Chief Academic Officer with the school's accreditation process. Works closely with school and system personnel to ensure accurate student data records. Oversees the administration of all testing programs at the school. Supervises extracurricular activities. Supports and attends community functions. Develops and monitors plans for personal and professional learning growth for self and staff. Supports district professional learning initiatives. Demonstrates a proactive style in recognizing and solving school problems. Coordinates and assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan. Monitors curriculum and instructional implementation to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Monitors Special Education programs to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Serves as a liaison to the Federal Programs director providing program support, data, planning, and documentation. Ensures adequate materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooks. Coordinates schedules for extracurricular activities. Sets high standards of performance for self, others, and school. Conferences with students, parents, and teachers to resolve problems which inhibit learning. Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups toward task accomplishment. Uses effective strategies to communicate with a variety of audiences. Supports induction of new teachers and monitors progress. Follows appropriate procedures for situations involving abuse and fraud. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems. Keeps abreast of developments in instructional methodology, learning theory, curriculum trends and content. Carries out duties and acts in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established State and local School Board policies, regulations and practices. Maintains confidentiality of student and other professional information. Supports school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, services and programs. Maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position. Performs other tasks consistent with goals and objectives that support the vision and mission of the Elbert County School System. Regularly, predictably and reliably at work.
