EL CAMPO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Behavior / In School Suspension AideReports To: PrincipalDept./School: Assigned CampusWage/Hour Status: NonexemptPay Grade: C/P 2Days Employed: 180Date Revised: June 1, 2014Primary Purpose:The ISS Aide / General Education Behavior Support staff member is responsible for supervising students assigned to in-school suspension while maintaing a structured, orderly environment. This position also provides campus-wide behavior support in general education settings, assisting with behavior interventions, student supervision, and reinforcing positive student expectations.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDAssociate's degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment as required by the No Child Left Behind ActValid educational aide III certification*Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematicsPhysical ability to move about in the classroom to monitor and supervise studentsLearn pertinent procedures and functions quickly and apply themUnderstand and carry out oral and written directionsEstablish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with those encountered in the course of workExperience:Three years experience as classroom aide or 30 semester hours of college credit with emphasis on child growth and developmentMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional SupportWork with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.Student ManagementManage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).Record student attendance and discipline referrals according to established procedures.Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.OtherMaintain confidentiality of information as required by school policy.Maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards as expected of all personnel.Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events when required.Perform other duties as assigned.
