Job Description:
Primary Objective: To provide technical support related to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of products that safely and cost effectively meet requirements for quality and delivery, as well as process metallurgy support for operations. Position Reports To: Technical Manager Responsibilities Sales Support Review inquiries and incoming orders Review claims and material specifications Review and investigate claims, write claims resolution reports Operations Support Develop manufacturing plans and procedures Optimize production processes; issue process change requests Analyze rejects and non-conformities QA/QC functions Develop QC test plans for orders Review test results for acceptability Release orders for shipment Maintain written procedures Oversee materials testing functions - Chemical, mechanical, NDT Assist QA Manager with internal audits Process consistency improvement Product quality improvement Direct efforts of Lab Technicians on specific matters SkillsStrong organizational, analytical, statistical, and communication skills Problem solving and performance improvement mentality (design of experiments, Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.) Computer proficiency EducationMinimum 4 year degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science or a related field Preferred Experience1-3 years minimum experience in ferrous metallurgy of Aerospace materials 1-3 years minimum experience in hot working and heat treatment processing Characteristics:Self-starter Self-disciplined Driven to excellence Meets commitments Proactive Physical Requirements:Speaking, hearing, near and far eyesight Ability to safely move around and work in an office environment Ability to safely move around and work in an industrial plant environment Security Level:US Citizen or US Person meeting ITAR requirements Will consider sponsorship Access to confidential business information Universal Stainless is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
