Description SUMMARY The Bike Builder assembles and fine-tunes new bicycles with a strong focus on quality and efficiency. This role includes building a wide range of bikes, including one-speed children's bikes, road bikes of all levels, full-suspension mountain bikes, custom builds, cargo bikes, and more - essentially all types of bicycles. The Builder works from a fully equipped bench with company-provided tools and completes builds in accordance with Habitat safety standards and procedures for both the retail floor and rental fleet. Perform bike assembly as the primary and sole responsibility of the position. Assemble new bicycles as they arrive, maintaining established assembly schedules. Follow the Bike Build Checklist for every build to ensure each bicycle is assembled safely and correctly. Conduct quality inspections to ensure all bikes meet safety and performance standards. Complete daily work assignments efficiently and in alignment with productivity expectations. Provide courteous customer acknowledgment by offering a friendly greeting and informing customers that assistance will be available shortly. Demonstrate reliability and performance consistent with a potential pathway to additional employment opportunities with Habitat. INCENTIVES/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Compensation & Incentives Compensation is paid on a per-bike basis. After completing 25 pedal bikes, you are eligible to purchase one bicycle from an approved vendor at wholesale cost plus shipping. After completing 10 adult bikes, you are eligible to purchase bicycle products from approved parts/accessory vendors at wholesale cost plus shipping (personal cart and payment required). Per-bike rates are subject to change at any time. Eligibility & Benefit Timeline You have thirty (30) days from the date of your last completed bike build to use earned purchase benefits. Benefits do not apply to winter-related products. All benefits expire after September 15 of the applicable year. Quality & Safety Standards Discrepancies identified on the Bike Build Checklist will result in a $1 deduction per overlooked step from the per-bike pay rate. Overlooked safety issues will result in a $5 deduction per occurrence from the per-bike pay rate. Examples of safety issues include: Loose stems which can still turn. Loose handlebars which can slip. Improperly set V-brake pads which can dive under rim. Accumulation of three (3) overlooked safety concerns will result in removal from the Bike Builder position. RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY: Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities with staff. WORK SCHEDULE Must coordinate with Repair Supervisor to build bikes during open hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bike Mechanic skills required Guest service experience is required. Up-to-date mechanical and technical experience working on bikes preferred. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
